Many adventures are about dungeons, or epic events. Some are about political drama, or secret cults. Others are about people. Desecration, on the surface, is a rescue mission. The quest, and the adventure the players discover take center stage. However, the driving force behind the adventure are the NPC’s. In this article we are focusing on 3 of these. In particular, we are focusing on the NPCs that the characters will be tasked to rescue.

The Modern Sagas is the second of a series of guidebooks created for the E-RPG system; an epic character driven, story-focused RPG. While many games exist that offer immersive and exciting worlds to play in, the creators of the E-RPG system believe that the stories always should have a focus on the driving characters in the drama. These are the characters created by the players of the game. Each of the other E-RPG guidebook (Fantasy and Sci-Fi Sagas) will use the same rule-set and so are completely compatible with each other, allowing game styles to be mixed and matched in any way a player or Game Master can imagine. Players can play in worlds that use any of the special features of one game type with another without making any special adjustments. Imagine playing in a world of computers, guns, and magic!

Ruel Knudson is the Game Master for the inaugural adventure for the Ironwood Nexus Community Play-By-Post gaming. The adventure is a sneak peak at the forthcoming retail adventure module for the Fantasy Sagas game line entitled: Desecration. In this adventure, penned by E-RPG and Fantasy Sagas creator, Ruel Knudson, characters will embark on a quest to rescue fellow treasure hunters from entombment and certain death following a mishap exploring ancient ruins near a small trade way.
